Baby well-being around the clock

Why won't my baby stop crying?
You will constantly be asking yourself questions like this.
There are many possible explanations: - your baby might be tired - have a tummy ache - need a nappy change - be hungry - or want some attention. Relax, even if you don't always know why your baby is crying straight away. It is a good idea to include your partner in your daily routine whenever possible. He is just as capable of looking after or holding the baby whilst you have a rest and recharge your batteries.
What should I do if my baby is ill?
Select a paediatrician before your baby is born. Seek help and advice from your friends - this will make your decision easier and enable you to feel confident in your future family doctor. Don't be afraid to raise any issues that might be bothering you and ask any questions you might have. A good doctor will understand your situation and be only too happy to help. Long waiting times in the practice should be an exception rather than the rule. It is difficult for you and your child to spend long periods of time waiting to be called. Your baby's tiny body is not yet immune to dangerous micro-organisms. Find out about the symptoms and risks of common childhood diseases. Don't forget that seemingly harmless infections can be dangerous for babies.

Common childhood illnesses:
  • Fever
  • Colds
  • Infection of the middle ear
  • Heavy diarrhoea (can lead to dehydration)
If your baby suffers from any of these illnesses, please always consult your doctor.

What do I do if I get ill?
  • If you are unsure, always consult a doctor and ask for advice.
  • If you are suffering from herpes, avoid close contact (particularly oral). Always wear a mask
over your mouth when handling your baby.
